Vyner Park Wildflower Meadow

Northumberland Wildlife Trust recently carried out a survey of the meadow in Vyner Park, funded by a NCC Climate Change Grant and commissioned by SNAC.

The subsequent report identifies the various habitats in the Park including scrub, wooded areas as well as the meadow. The variety of habitats encourages a greater range of biodiversity – as can be seen in the species list in the report appendices.

The survey was also an opportunity for members of SNAC to receive training in identifying some of the flowers and grasses that can be found in the meadow.

It was great to hear that the current management regime for the meadow is exactly what’s needed, which is great news. We’ll be working closely with the Vyner Park Committee to implement the further recommendations in the report.
