The Power of Ponds
Dr Mike Jeffries, freshwater ecologist and renowned pond expert, gave a brilliant talk at our March meeting.
Mike’s talked about why ponds are so important for wildlife, and about some of the groundbreaking research that has taken place at the Hauxley Nature Reserve. This has helped understanding of how ponds develop and their role in capturing carbon.
Boating Lake
Nine enthusiastic SNAC volunteers spent five hours in the spring sunshine recently cutting back rhododendron and laurel from around the old Boating Lake in Swarland Wood.
This was the second day of action working with Forestry England and there may be a final day’s work later in the year.
