Swarland and Newton on the Moor Action on Climate (SNAC) is a group of local people who want to do something to tackle climate change and to protect and enhance the natural environment in our area.

Boating Lake

A dozen volunteers joined staff from Forestry England recently to clear invasive rhodedendrons from around the former Boating Lake in Swarland Wood.

Over the years, the lake has transformed into a habitat called ‘wet woodland’ – one of the least common wooded habitats. It can support a rich biodiversity, and it’s hoped that by removing invasive species and letting in more light, that biodiversity can thrive.

Weekday Bus Service

Thanks to everyone who told us how you would like to use a weekday bus service.

We’ve now shared that feedback with NCC.

We hope to have something to report back following a further meeting with them later this month.

Next Meeting

Join us on Tuesday November 18th at 6pm in Swarland Club for our next meeting.

We’re a friendly, informal group who want to make a difference in our local area. Everyone welcome.
