Bus Use Survey

Do you ever wish there was a bus service in the parish?

We’re all being encouraged to think about how we travel and to reduce our carbon footprint. Part of that might be about reducing how much we drive and using public transport more. That’s not always easy in rural areas, and so we want to find out if there is a demand to re-instate a bus service within the parish.

About ten years ago, Arriva withdrew all its Berwick-Newcastle services (currently X15) from stops in Swarland and Newton on the Moor. At the time, passengers using these stops had been steadily decreasing over a number of years. Since then, there have been several attempts to run a commercial service to and from Alnwick, but these have never lasted very long. The only service available currently is the NEED bus, once a week, which has to be booked in advance. This permits a limited amount of time in Alnwick for shopping etc.

SNAC would like to find out if there is any interest in campaigning to restore a regular bus service, especially given the recent increase in the number of residents in the Parish. Maybe you would like to avoid the hassle of finding and paying for parking, maybe you do not drive or have limited access to a car, maybe you would like to take advantage of concessionary travel or maybe you just want to be more green… If so, please help us by completing the survey below.
